Func Industries was formed on 9/9/99 by a small group of professionals working within the PC gaming industry, spending most of their off work time playing games from all different genres. At that time growth in competitive gaming had created an unprecedented demand for mousing precision and, although mouse technology was advancing to accommodate this demand, a large void existed in mousing surface technology.

It was to fill this void that the sUrface1030 concept was first introduced. The sUrface1030 was based on a scientific approach to mousing precision. Materials and surface textures were selected that would maximize mousing performance and improve gaming accuracy and features such as a cord clip and non-slip rubber backing were incorporated to improve the user’s overall interaction with their PC. The double-sided sUrface1030’s patent pending unique features and innovative design went on to win awards from almost every major press entity in the industry, including PC Gamer’s ‘Editors Choice’ award, Maximum PC’s ‘Kick Ass Product’ award, Thresh’s FiringSquad ‘Editors Choice’ award, Gamespy’s Planet Hardware ‘Editor’s Choice’ award, PCStats ‘Editor’s Choice’ award, and the Gamer’s Depot ‘Drool’ award. The sUrface1030 continues to be popular with gamers and professional computer users and has inspired a large number of similar products from competitors.

To celebrate the success of the sUrface1030 design, Func recently released the sUrface1030 MBA Limited Edition, which has a base made from machined billet aluminum (MBA), innovative silicon feet that provide unrivaled adherence to a desktop, and an improved injection molded cord clip. The sUrface1030 MBA LE also includes a serial number with a corresponding certificate of authenticity for collectors and has recently won the PC Gamer’s ‘Editors Choice’ award as well as the Maximum PC ‘Kick Ass Product’ award.

Func continues to push the edge in the mousing surface market with new products that provide unprecedented levels of consistency and tracking precision. Most recently, the F-SERIES product line was introduced to respond to a demand for a single sided, large footprint solution, and for the ability to choose a textured surface specific to the customer’s preference. With a low profile design of only 1/16”, the Func mouse cord clip, and high resolution graphics designed to optimize optical tracking, the F-SERIES is set to leave quite an impression on the gaming community. A sneak peak of the F-SERIES product line was available in late May during the 2005 E3 gaming convention where companies such as Electronic Arts, ATI Technologies, Microsoft Games for Windows, and Ubisoft had customized F-series surfaces on display at their booth, showcasing in high-resolution and full color digital printing the individual game title featured at each station.
